CUTIS VERTICIS GYRATA
Cutis verticis gyrata (CVG) is characterized by excess folding of the skin of the scalp. It may occur as an isolated finding in which case it is called primary CVG, or it may occur in association with other conditions in which case it is called secondary CVG.
- In some cases of Turner's syndrome or Noonan's syndrome for example, the infant has CVG. In these cases, it is postulated that lymphedema of the scalp plays a role.
- Pachydermoperiostosis is a syndrome which has CVG as one component.
